Large List Selector Display Issue

I have a table with a FK ClientId. I have created a view off of the client table merging the appropriate fields into a FullName field.

My view consists of a PK for the Client and a Field Called FullName

On the Table with the FK to Client I've set a virtual fk to the view and told it to display the view.FullName field. This works great and I have done it before in many other places.

My problem is that in this case when the Large List Selector is displayed it is showing the ClientId field and not the Name.

Where can I look to resolve this issue. I've tried dropping the virtual fk and recreating but it still shows the id field and not the name field.

Enabled input based on checkbox

Hi,

I have looked through the knowledge base and CCW but have not seen a solution as of yet. I have a textbox field called Overflow and a checkbox called overflow allowed. I only want the user to be able to enter a value in overflow if the checkbox is checked. Also if the box is checked they user must enter a value.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Drop-down in list from view

I am creating an enterprise list of terms and I would like to show the term, description, etc., and then a list of related terms in a drop-down list (with a button next to it to go to that term).

Any help in how to do this would be appreciated.

File Upload/Open Problem for Emails

I've just started using the File Upload control in ISD 5.1, storing the file in SQL Server 2005 as an image field. This works fine for PDF, Word, Excel and TIF files but not for Email .msg or Text .txt files which the default Open File link tries to open as an image. Has anyone got any ideas about what could be going wrong?

New display style "search"

Typeahead, etc in dropdown lists is great. Sometimes, though it would be useful to have a "contains" option as well as a "starts with".

For consistency, could the functionality of the Search box be made available to fields that can be displayed as dropdowns (both in records and in filters)?

Error Finding ID

Hi,
I am getting this error message from my ISD app, when I try to add a calculated Field:
"Unable to find control id 'txt01' referenced by the 'ControlToValidate' property of 'txt01TextBoxMaxLengthValidator'"

I'm not sure why it is doing this. I followed the instructions in this Post: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/ironspeed/vpost?id=479137.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Deploy to IIS7 on Vista

I've been using 5.1 on Vista for some time with no problem.

I've installed IIS7 (for SQL Server 2005) and now when I try to run my app from ISD I'm getting the 404 Error,

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found

The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

I can still launch Visual Studio 2005 and run the web site from there with no problem.

Rebuild Error

Hi,

I've been developing my application using ISD5.1 but have come across an error for the first time. Im not sure what changes triggered the error but now when I try to build my app I am presented with this error:

Failed to generate the file D:\dev\mainline\Zarion\WA\WA.UI\WA.UI.ADMIN\ADMIN\App_Code\allocationRule\AddAllocationRulePage.Controls.vb.An error occurred during a call to extension function 'GetForeignKeyColumns'. See InnerException for a complete description of the error.

For researching here I can see that this is caused by schema changes but my app had been working with the current schema and does work perfectly when i run it from VS2008. This error is really slowing me down as I have deadlines to meet.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Licensing question -- code

Do we own all rights to all the code in our generated applications? Can we do anything at all with the code -- sell it, give it away, use it as the basis for an open source project, etc? I'm sure the answers are somewhere in the licensing fine print, but who reads that stuff.

If someone knows, I'd appreciate an answer. Thanks.

prompt to save on exit

Hi all,

I have a few pages with edit tables and have been kindly advised that if information is not saved by users then I carry the can. This is because you can click on another tab and lose your work, also you can perform a search for a record, enter details and perform another search and lose your changes etc etc.

I know user training is part of it, but it does not help my case if I can't come up with a compromise which is workable.

I have experimented with the javascript function which is fired on the window.onbeforeunload event

function confirmExit()

{

return "You have attempted to leave this page. If you have made any changes to the fields without clicking the Save button, your changes will be lost. Are you sure you want to exit this page?";

}

This is available at 4guysfromrolla.

It's not a bad solution but it fires twice when I leave a tab on a page. Is there any way of only making it fire once?

Alternatively is there a nice function I can override to automatically save if there have been any changed and the user exits the page?

smart lookup forms

Hi to all,
a very usefull functionality is the ability to use smart look up forms for selection and by saying smart look up forms i mean when populating a drop down list is way to big (let's say 50000 records even after filterng etc..) -and not a very good idea, keep the drop down list empty, show a button next to it and open a new form where the user can apply advanced filtering and will be able to select through this large selection dataset (<-- sorry... Delphi you see!) and the results will then be send back to the calling page. This should give the ability to return more than one value to the requesting page so the presentation is complete e.g. get the id of a customer (which could be hidden) and display (after the look up) the fist name, last name, social security number and ...
i think you get the picture.

Image from database is not showing

Hi
I have a fieldvalue that is assigned to a database field of type image.
I set display property as image.

When page is run it doesnt show the image it just shows an "X" similar to blank image.

Are there anything else i need to do?
