My last post about displaying database image had no replies at all so i deleted it and posted a new one.

Problem.
I have a view from different tables called vwByPersonID which shows cards printed for each person. One of the tables contains an image field which I need to display in the table. I make sure that one of the fields in the view is a primary key as suggested by IronSpeed support and I changed the global display property and check Create virtual key.

When I ran the website, the page displays the image if the table returns only one record row for that person. (refer to attachment figure 1)
However if the table has multiple rows for that  person the image is not displayed.(refer to attachment figure 2)

Is there a way around this. I know I should only show the image once for each person but I dont know how you do this on the table records. What I did  is do this by grouping them in the crystal report which would be display if you click the button report detail(will export report to pdf version of crystal report)

Hope someone has the answer.
Thanks.

Hello:

Please make sure that one or more fields are defined as Virtual Primary Key so that the complete VPK is unique.  If you define only one field as VPK, it may not be sufficient.  Try adding another one field to make it unique.

Thanks Akesh,

It worked. Although I dont quite understand why the image would be affected. Can you tell me the reason behind this. Also can you put me to a good resource on how to understand how Iron Speed works.

Appreciate it.
Cheers.

Hello:

In order to make a view work with Iron Speed (and behave like a table), we need to identify column (or columns) which are unique.  It is like creating a Primary Key on a table which is enforced by SQL on tables but is lacking on views.  Once you have a unique values in the columns selected for VPK, it behaves like a table.

We have learned by sharing our questions and answers on this forum.  You can always opt for taking the Iron Speed training which is scheduled twice a month.  You can always sit in on the weekly seminars.  The details are available from Iron Speed's web site.
