Yes, I waited so long for version 10 to be available.

Downloaded it immedaitdly yesterday and created a test app (with Southwind sample database) .
And guess what? It doesn't work. And live preview neither does.

Object reference not set to an instance of ....

Another try with a SQL Server database gives the same error.

What's next? Deinstall version 10 and wait for 11? Or is Windows 8 to blame again?

I tried to migrate my application from version 9.2 to version 10 and I got an error when it tries to build.
So I decided to generate a new one and compare the files but got the same error as  described on this post.
I am using SQL Server 2012 and I tried to generate pages for one table only.

Object reference not set to an instance of ...

It doesn't seem as if it has something to do with the kind of database you are using. I tried it with the Southwind Access database and that gives the same error.

I think I know what the problem is.

If you create a Website for .NET 4.5 it works.
If you create a WebApplication for .NET 4.5 it does not work.
If you create a WebApplication for .NET 3.5 it works.
I guess a Website for .NET 3.5 will also work.

So the problem seems to be the combination of .NET 4.5 and a webapplication.

Is it Web Application for .NET 4.5 , C#, no Visual Studio 2012 installed?
It seems that in this case CompileApplication.rsp file does not contain proper reference to DataVisualization dll.
Anyway, could you open support case, give full system information of your system and attach your application (if it is application with Southwind it is even better)?
And if you have a problem with C# / No VS2012 scenario could you try vb and see if it works?
Waiting for 11 is not a wise idea, but helping us with reporting problems will make a difference as we will fix all these problems in a next week or two and re-release fixed version.
As much as we tried to cover all variations of framework / language / visual studio / application type / database type / etc. we might miss something. We apologize for that but we will do our best to fix all reported problems really soon and re-release updated version.

Kirill,

The same issue happens when I create a new application using V10. I will continue working with V9.02, while awaiting a solution to the V10.

Thank you for your attention.

Best regards,

Luiz Pires.

It never happens over here in our testing environment. So I really encourage you to open support case and send your new application and system information, otherwise how we can fix it if we can't reproduce?

I tried to upload my project but the website returned an Error. Maybe the attached file was too big?

You can try to reproduce it with Windows 8 64 bits. Create a WEBAPPLICATION with. NET 4.5. C# or VB doesn't matter. I door have VS EN 2012 installed.

We tried and created several dozen of Web App 4.5 apps. Never saw the issue.
If you can't attach app still open support case we will send you FTP account credentials. Can't post it here.

I created a new application with Version 10 and had absolutely no problems.

I agree with Ironspeed on this one.
Rather than jump the gun and start pointing fingers open your ticket and describe your environment.

I want to say thank you and tell you you did a great job with the release.  I can imagine the difficulties in getting every detail of this release together and skipping beta was risky but I also don't remember a product release being in QA as long as this one.  Ultimately I am confident the product is rock solid and any issues will be resolved in a timely manner.

I too am seeing this object required message on V10 apps, and was able to duplicate it against the southwind db.

A ticket is in with southwind app and system config info.

Thanks ,

Jim

**My Workaround**
By debugging in Visual Studio 2012, I traced the problem to dll mismatch on the MySql.Data.Dll in the compiled application bin directory. Application was looking for ver: 6.4.4 and the installed version was 6.5.4.  Copying the correct version 6.4.4 into the application bin directory removed the error.

In Visual Studio, I had to also update the project reference for the dll to point to the version in the bin directory, otherwise on a rebuild all, the wrong version of the file was copied back in

I found that on my machine all the ISD templates had the correct version, but the wrong version existed as a part of prior Visual Studio Integration Services install.

Waiting for a response from ISD support, on how to permanently correct the issue of the the wrong file getting installed.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Hi Jim,
Did you use a special tool to find the mismatch in dll versions? The reason I ask is that I get a warning saying two versions of a dll are found but no other info. My searches on the web all pointed me to downloading a special tool to find out exactly what the offending dll is however I have had no luck with those tools. The app builds and runs fine but I would like to resolve the issue if I can.
Thanks,
Michael

I have encountered the MySQL error before as well.  The problem is that ISD keeps copying the MySQL.dll every time you do a ReBuild All!!  That is a different problem but related.  You may also want to recompile the base classes with your version of the MySQL drivers, or upgrade the version on your dev machine to 6.5.4.

Either way, its a pain!

Michael,

No special tool, just Visual Studio 2012.

The attached document shows the steps I went through. The process worked for this error, maybe it will help with yours.

Thanks,

Jim
