I was running ISD 12.2 on a Win 7 laptop. I have a complete backup of the install folder. My laptop crashed and I was not able to recover it, so I can't uninstall to free up the license. My laptop has been rebuilt but on Windows 10 with the same computer name. If I install ISD and replace the install folder with my backup, will it work?

I've been running 12.2 on Windows 10 with no issues at all. The only issues I've heard about is apparently VS2017 does not play nice. (I haven't tried myself). Stick to VS2015. HTH,

Hi CK, As long as you have the same computer name, you can do a clean install without any issue. However, if you replace it with your backup after successful installation is something you need to do with caution. Also, I don't see any logic why you need to do it? Jimi J

Thanks Jimi. I did not know you can reinstall as long as the computer name is the same. I thought you had to uninstall before you can reregister even with the same computer name. Let me give that a go.

Pinbot we Are working only with visual studio 2017 and haven't had any issue Just built a new Hi spec machine with win 10 and both vs 2015 and vs2017 and prefer vs2017 for the speed increase. the good thing is generally for an Ironspeed app is you can go between 2015 and 2017 seamlessly while you are testing as the isd app isn't using the latest features We are only using 2015 for a data transfer package which 2017 didn't allow to run (Think we are missing a package on install) which is only minor and we will solve when we have got time Gerard

Thanks Gerard for the input about VS2017. That's a good news to me to try soon! I know by time it will stabilize.
