Iron Speed was one of the best tools for its time and all of us have built solutions which have wowed our customers.  Our team has used Iron Speed since their first release in 2004 and delivered over 200 production applications in various industries.  As many of you may know, we had been extending Iron Speed since their 4.x release. Their decision to stop such extensibility from 7.x release onwards forced our team to think of options for assisting our existing client-base as well as planning for future development.  We evaluated many products in the market but they all fell short due to their own IDE and/or inability to deliver custom UI.  We decided to build a framework which minimizes the learning curve of MVC and works in a way Iron Speed used to work.

Light Speed MVC Framework was born in 2011. It is now ready to migrate Iron Speed solutions to the .Net MVC platform.  We have perfected the framework by using it in real world projects.  We started delivering solutions in production since 2012 and it is now a very robust and industry proven framework.

The following are some of the key architectural advantages of Light Speed MVC Framework:

  • Native MVC Implementation in a Visual Studio solution (light foot print and very quick compile times)
  • Version Control enabled for multiple teams for true collaborative development
  • Lightspeed ORM is used to provide the functionality of Business Layer and Data Access Layer from Iron Speed which support the true Unit of Work (amazing performance – currently supports MSSQL and Oracle)
  • Telerik Kendo UI is used for all front-end development which makes building custom interface viable
  • Dynamic loading of tabs on demand for faster response time (Ajax implementation of Partial Views)
  • Supports Unit Test integration (a must-have for every project)
  • Themes are built using LESS standards which makes it a breeze to maintain
  • REST like API provides the ability to integrate with other applications including Mobile apps

It is hard to detail the full feature list but as compared to Iron Speed, the following key features may help you realize the potential of Light Speed MVC Framework:

  • Single Add/Edit/View page by default but can be separated if needed
  • Single Show Table page which can be customized and extended as needed
  • User Customizable Show Table pages with ability to Sort, Filter, Add/Remove Columns, Group, and Export to CSV, Excel & PDF
  • Metadata driven security model to handle all updates at run time as compared to design time
  • Metadata driven design for Page Properties, Work Flow, Localization and Column Formatting
  • Single or MDI interface based on need (Base Application has Modern looking UI)
  • Customizable Menus based on need (Standard Drop Down, Ribbon Style or Accordion)
  • No need for Large List selector as all Drop Down Lists work with Type-Ahead functions
  • Multi-Tenant Ready (no need to write a single line of code for any entity)
  • Integration of Telerik Reporting
  • Integration of Dashboard and Dashlets (Partial Views, Lists or Kendo Charts)

If you are looking for a way to continue developing your existing Iron Speed projects, Light Speed MVC Framework may be your answer.  We would love to review your project and see if our framework will work for you.  You have the options to either buy the framework, have our team build the base product without any custom logic or have our team migrate the entire application.

You can reach us at (631) 752-2000 or info@lightspeedsolutions.com to review your needs.  We will be more than glad to have an online meeting to share the details and provide you with a login account to evaluate the features of our Light Speed MVC Framework in a real world application.

I apologize for making a short story long.

Over a year ago I was approached by a client to develop a new loan management system for them.  After some preliminary scope discussions I determined that native ISD (v12.2) would likely not give them the functionality they wanted.
Since I didn't have any experience with ISD and Telerik and my experience with ISD and DevExpress didn't seem to provide the functionality they required, I reached out to Light Speed Solutions based on a demo app they had posted at the time.

A year later, after consider scope change from the client, we are almost ready to go live.  The platform functionality that is provided has allowed the client to change field labels, menu names, etc. without having to re-code or use 3rd party development tools.  The ability to change table displays and save them for individual users is something that the client also likes very much.

Once this system goes live, I'll be investigating migrating another application developed using ISD to MVC using the framework.

I purchased this product but I'm still struggling with the fact the post to the forum appear to be old and not recently updated and sections of the forum are locked?

Is this the same Lightspeed by Mindscape?

Hi Michael:

If I understand your post, you are talking about MindscapeHQ's ORM (which is also named Light Speed and can be confusing).  MindscapeHQ's ORM is a very mature product, the company recently changed their support structure and support is readily available via email.

While Mindscape's ORM is just the Modeling tool, our Light Speed MVC Framework is a full Visual Studio solution which has the Model (back-end), Controllers (middle-tier) and the Views (front-end).  In addition, we have put together the best practices to build a complete solution that not only delivers a production ready system but also flattens the learning curve of MVC architecture for Iron Speed users.

If you drop us an email, we will be more than glad to setup a meeting to review the details.

Hope this clarifies for you.

Iron Speed to MVC Migration Training

Are you thinking about migrating your Iron Speed applications to MVC but not sure if it is the right direction?  If yes, you can enroll in our two-day training on using Light Speed MVC Framework.

The cost of the two day training is $495.00 per attendee.  This is a great way for you to evaluate the Light Speed MVC Framework before purchasing the framework.  In addition, if you do decide to purchase the framework, the training cost will be applied towards the purchase.

Our next scheduled training is March 8-9, 2018 at our office in Farmingdale, New York (just 30 minutes from NYC).

If interested, please contact us at info@lightspeedsolutions.com or (631) 752-2000.
