It's never a good idea to install software on your computer unless you absolutely trust where it came from. If someone is dishonest enough to steal a piece of software, why wouldn't they install a back door at the same time to steal you personal information or work?

Miles,
Does the folder backup of IS ever get stale? I restored my backup folder during the server issue, firewall'd IS's ip, but it did not open. I got an error stating the license was invalid. Either the backup/restore was somehow off or the licensing token used (and I have no idea how IS does it. There are thousands of ways) expired.
Right now I am backing up the folder more often (daily) before I open IS.

I back up the installation folder after the install is complete and activation works.  There is a temp license file in the Xheo folder that needs to be deleted sometimes.  I don't think it ever gets stale as long you backed up an activated copy.

But if you have the second option of the firewall hacks working, then you should be fine.  Some folks have suggested being offline before loading ISD, but that is a pain of course.

HTH,

I'm going to keep testing it. I will rename my IS folder and restore it from a known working original  copy every week. I go for a couple of months and let everyone know the results. Hopefully it was not IS issue, but an issue when I extracted the folder from an image file.

Great. I will be interested in seeing how you make out. I just copy the folder offline.

I am getting the same Activation Error "A valid licence could not be obtained ..." on a PC that has been working fine.

I have done a complete uninstall and reinstall, copied the Reg Code from my profile, but still the same error.

What next?

Try to delete: C:\ProgramData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\Mirror\Designer.F200D4FA.lic (You may backup first). Then see if it makes any difference after another run.

Hi Jaime

Thanks - that fixed it.  I saw the earlier post about that file but didn't realise c:\ProgramData was a hidden folder.

None of the above is working for me.

I do not have that XHEO subfolder in my ProgramData folder. And yes I have uninstalled and re-installed ISD 12.2, plus I have deleted every trace of it before re-installing it (registry, program files, etc), and I suspect that is causing me issues?

We are a large shipping port and have been using ISD for years, when suddenly it's asking me for a registration key. I have done this, but it either keeps failing with that SQL error, or after I've tried to do the "no internet" hack, it asks me to post or email ISD for an activation code. Do I need both the key and the Activation Code?

Question: If the website ironspeed.com is up, then surely the licensing servers are up!? Miles, could you please assist, as we desperately need to alter the code on several websites. We could do it in VS2017, but it's "painful" to say the least.

ps. I've also tried to sign in, and retrieve my password (as I don't often need to sign in), and now I get this ... "

Error

Unable to access data. Please contact your system administrator or customer support.

 "

... along with a heap of BIN files, and this SQL error...

"Unable to connect to database. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"

That's the same error when I've tried to register the program again, and again.

So guys... is IronSpeed is dead now?

Cheers
