I see, in other posts,  you have already tried AspRunnerAspx..   How about that..  You did not like it?

Please let me know... also, asking others to post their reviews of the other products such as COT.

Thanks,
Elias

How is your latest evaluation of  this program..  I see you have posted on their blog forum as well.

Are you also trying another one lately?

Please let me know.

Thanks.

I am having good success with ASPRunner.Net. It works well for what I need and the support is wonderful. They are moving towards a responsive UI using Bootstrap, so the future looks good. For the money, it's the best product out there.

Having said that, it really depends on what you need to do. I do a lot of internal web/database line of business applications. I also use Microsoft Visual Studio for certain public facing applications. Together they satisfy most of my needs.

Also, it takes a bit of getting used to the GUI to get your application looking really good (compared to Iron Speed). All the tools are there, you just need to understand how they all control the application's overall look and feel. But the functionality out of the box is excellent. Good reporting and graphs too.

Thanks much Jerry,

Most of the other bloggers do not want to say much of what software they resorted too.

I am looking for something that has a web.config file I am used too so I can control my applications and url rewrite.  That is why I insist on the aspx type of pages and applications such as the asprunneraspx one.  .

I tried to customize the web.config file but when you rebuild the application, all the customization in the web.config file go away.

Need something that I can build on the limited knowledge I have about web windows and web applications.

Other programs, such as Alpha, they are too proprietary to expand or apply current knowledge on them.  I will stay with asprunner but also work more on the COT program.  Perhaps it is easier to customize.

Thank you for sharing.

When I make changes to the web.config file, I simply do not upload the newly generated web.config.

You shoul reach out to their support with your concerns. They are very good.

grreek - I did evaulate ASPRunner.Net and can concur with everything Jerry Adach has stated.  He has worked much more with the product and is a far better resource on AspRunner.

From my limited trial I can say that yes for the money it is an excellent product and if you are used to Iron Speed then you should be able to be up and running with AspRunner in no time.

It wasn't a good fit for us.  I am looking at more of a comprehensive platform based on the sheer number of employees we must support with custom applications and limited developers.

Platforms are not the best path for everyone as many have the proprietary limitation you mentioned.  However the platform approach is a good fit for us in that the expense incurred in buying into the platform is minimal in comparison to the benefits we obtain from a good product.

Let me add another product to the list.

GeneXus - http://www.genexususa.com

Their latest release Evolution 3 is very polished and I think it would have a broad appeal to the Iron Speed users looking for a viable alternative.  Their pricing is competitive with Iron Speed and they are further ahead in terms of responsive pages and native mobile applications.  They also don't license your deployment so whatever you build is royalty free.  They have a very large developer community as well.

I've been working with their CEO & Co-Founder Dane Drotts and he setup a demo for me with Nicolas Sanchez.  The development was very intuitive and rapid and the finished product looked very polished.  I won't try to provide a full summary of the demo as I am by no means an expert and would perhaps misstate something of importance.  However, I did see support for many non .Net languages such as Ruby and many others.

If you are still searching for your Iron Speed replacement product I would definitely give them a shot to show you their product.

Thanks much,

I will certainly do so.  Sounds like a very good program.

The experience was not very good for genexus in our company. Very closed product, and very closed result.

I installed it and tried a sample application.  All looked good until it stumbled on the Android compile.  That is far as  I have got so far.  The app folder doesn't seem to contain a .NET solutions file, but that may be a result of the incomplete build.

HTH,

Hi Everybody,

Very sad to see Ironspeed finishing.
I have followed you for many years and have used your tool.

I have been a web programmer for over 10 years and I have tool that could
be used to convert existing Ironspeed apps into a ASP.NET MVC SPA.

Please checkout my brief video on it:-

Single Page Application - GENERATOR

I would love to help out my Australian counter parts.

Kalvin

Hi Rob:

Outsystems is quite nice but their licensing is a bit confusing.  It is a complete solution and does have the potential to be a great platform.  The yearly platform fee is something which did not work for our consulting side as it is more geared towards an organization who may have many applications.  They have a mobile application where you log in once and then can access all your apps.

At Light Speed Solutions, we are migrating to pure .NET / MVC / C# solutions using Kendo UI as this provides the best alternate to more flexible options.  With the ORM from Mindscape HQ, the development speed has been matched with Iron Speed.

Hope this helps.
