Is there a place to set how much time to let the screen be inactive?  I would like it to wait longer before logging out automatically.

Thank you

Anglea,

Are you a wondering about custom function that will log out a user using a process, or the session timeout (typically 20min) ?

Session time out is set in the web.config, sessionstate timeout property

<sessionState mode="InProc" ...timeout="60"/>

This would set the session timeout to 60 minutes.

Caution, this can have an impact on server performance, because you are now storing session data for three times as long.

Hope this helps.

Hi Angela/Jim,

You need to increase also the AppPool "Idle Time-out" setting (set @ 20 min by default) that kills your worker process and destroys your InProc session (even set @ 60 min) in 20-minute as well.

Cheers,
Jimi J

Aaannnnd.. you need to change the timeout setting on the IIS web site itself as well, which I believe is in seconds. Ridiculous why MS put timeout options all over the place.
