A dropdownlist in our ISD app suddenly began displaying the ID value rather than the FK field.

That is, rather than displaying "Alpha", "Beta", "Gamma".  It is now showing 1,2,3.

ID   Name
1    Alpha
2    Beta
3    Gamma

Restarting the site resolved the issue temporarily and then it happened again.

Any ideas?

Yes.  There is a bug in IronSpeed.  Sometimes after you synch your schema, the "Display As" setting for that field reverts to the PK/VPK.  Simply switch to Database Tab, select the field within the table/view and change the Display As field to the description field.

Problem solved, but you may have to do it again in the future.  At least this is a viable solution.

Cheers,

Miles

The generated app was displaying correctly, alone on the web server, and then suddenly began to display ID numbers in a dropdownlist.  Oddly, no one had touched the code or used ISD in ages.  Restarting the site in IIS solved it temporarily, and then it recurred.

It is a strange case, right?  Thanks.

Weird for sure.... Not sure what else to suggest, other than maybe your schema has changed and that is why the app is behaving differently?
