Hi all,

We have what we thought was an unused perpetual licence but when trying to install Iron Speed we get a message at the activation stage that states that the product has been activated twice before and can not be activated again. I'm not sure if this means the activation server knows the licence is unused but has been activated too many times or if it believes the licence is in use? It's possible that as people have left the company their laptops have been wiped without uninstalling Iron Speed. Does anyone know if there is an activation attempt limit, and if so, is there anything that can be done to get the licence reset now that Iron Speed support is no more?

Thanks.

Yes, wiping a computer without uninstalling IS will show the license as in use.
Yes, there is an activation attempt limit.  As far as I know its 1 time.
I think you can reset it via the support site but I'm not certain.  Some of the MVPs likely know

Thanks nestor.

Additional info: when we initially logged in to the page where you manage your seats (as the owner) the key we were trying to use did not have a machine assigned. The product would not register (got the message saying the activation limit had been exceeded) so we tried entering the machine name and changing the named user to suit the developer who needs to use it, however we got the same message when attempting to register.

I seem to recall that this happened a couple of years ago and we had to ask our Iron Speed rep (Robb Shelley?) to reset it. If there's a limit to the number of times you can install the software (after previously uninstalling it on a different machine) then we might be stuffed without some manual intervention on the licence server? Can any of the MVPs advise please?

There is no activation limit. However, as far as I know, the Licensing System is still validating the license owner, as well the authorized user. This is a protection to prevent the seat license to be sold in part.

Ok, thanks Miles and Jimi. We're pretty sure that we have the owner set correctly and we've assigned the seat to the new user. I didn't realise that contacting Robb or Alan for assitance was still an option so I'll try that - fingers crossed!

Errr... sorry, I'm struggling to find an email address for Robb Shelley or Alan Fisher or a means of contacting them via the forum. Could someone advise please?
